Mayoral Candidate
After a year of public safety advocacy, I announced my intention to run for mayor of Atlanta in 2008. I not only wanted to make sure public safety was the #1 issue of that election year, I also wanted to remind the people that the electoral process was “ours.”
It was a grassroots campaign fueled by social media: we raised $4800 in 48 hours through small donations (to get on the ballot). I was a candidate for just over two months and, on election night, garnered 1% of the vote… coming in 5th out of 6.
